3 Megawatt Allison 501 KB Turbine Generator Combustion Liner Replacement
Complete removal and dismantle of the Allison T56 Turbine jet engine from the generator enclosure. Removal and install of new combustion liners.
Location: City/County, CA
Business Type: Residential/Commercial
During a routine preventive maintenance combustion liner bore scoping our technician found several cracks in the turbine combustion liners 2 and 4. These cracks were determined detrimental to the integrity of the combustion liner which could lead to a catastrophic failure.
With approval from the customer we began the processes of ordering and installing new combustion liners.

The Process
First step in the process was to remove the side wall from the turbine enclosure and mount a specialty designed crane in order to pick the turbine jet engine out of the generator enclosure.
Once the turbine engine was removed it was placed on a rolling stand so our technicians could split the combustion case from the compressor section. The new liners were then mated to the turbo section and reinstalled in the liner case.
The turbine engine was reinstalled into the sound attenuated enclosure and test operated for proper functions.
